BS ISO 10005:2005 Quality management systems. Guidelines for quality plans is the newly revised International Standard that has been brought into line with BS EN ISO 9001:2000. It now reflects the process approach, customer focus and the change from quality assurance to quality management as characterised in BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

BSI’s David Adamson explains: “BS ISO 10005 provides businesses with guidance on how to formulate a quality plan, using examples to show how to prepare and present the plan. It is suitable where an established quality management system is already in place, or as an independent management activity. The standard offers a flexible approach to quality and is written so that management can decide which format best suits their business”.

Among the benefits of establishing a quality plan are the increased confidence that requirements will be met, greater assurance that processes are in control and the motivation it can give to those involved. It may also give insight into opportunities for improvement.

BS ISO 10005 can be used regardless of whether an organization’s management system conforms to ISO 9001. The quality plan can be applied to processes, product, projects or contracts, any product category (hardware, software, processed materials and services) and any industry.

BS ISO/IEC 23026 Software Engineering. Recommended Practice for the Internet. Web Site Engineering, Web Site Management, and Web Site Life Cycle

This standard defines recommended practices for World Wide Web page engineering for Intranet and Extranet environments, based on World Wide Web Consortium (W3C®) and related industry guidelines. ISO/TS 22004

ISO/TS 22004:2005 Food safety management systems. Guidance on the application of ISO 22000:2005

This standard provides guidance for organizations that recognize the potential benefits of implementing the food safety management system – BS EN ISO 22000 – but are unsure of how to go about it. The document will therefore contribute to the spread of such systems, as well as improving understanding, communication and coordination between the actors in food supply chains.

ISO Secretary-General Alan Bryden commented: “ISO/TS 22004 will facilitate the effective implementation of BS EN ISO 22000 and therefore help to maximize the benefits. It is an example of ISO’s market relevance, showing how we as an organization are keeping pace with evolutions in business practice, such as today’s tendency to accompany products with service and support packages.”

ISO/TS 22004 gives generic guidance for small and large enterprises on the implementation of BS EN ISO 22000, without altering or replacing any of the requirements in the standard. It explains “the process approach” used in BS EN ISO 22000 and provides guidance on the main clauses of the standard.

A major benefit of BS EN ISO 22000 is that it provides a framework for organizations worldwide to implement the Codex HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) system for food hygiene in a harmonized way, which does not vary with the country or food product concerned. To further this objective, ISO/TS 22004 includes a flow chart on the planning of safe foods that combines steps addressed by the Codex HACCP guidelines and steps specific to BS EN ISO 22000.
